Set of Warli painted frames:1

Image
Hello, My best friend's brother was getting married and was not accepting any gifts for the occassion. But I knew he would not say no if I personally made it.So, here is a set of two warli paintings that I made as a gift for him.The pictures depict a wedding. The rough sketch was a single painting but it was too large to fit into the frames I had already bought. So it is split into two. The base is a handmade paper with white poster colours. The frame was plain so I gave it a little warli touch by doing the white borders. Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome. Until next time, Avanti.

Harshu

Image
Hello, Harshika is one of my closest friend's beautiful daughter. She is the first kid in our circle of friends and is loved and adored by all. This quilled monogram was her 2nd birthday gift.I could not make it to her birthday party but her mom graciously forgave me when she saw what I had made for her daughter :)  Everything has been made from 3mm strips. The base is the lid of a box made for holding teeth sets{used in dentures}.So a bit of reuse and recycling there. Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome. Until next time, Avanti....

Ankur and Adi.....

Hello, These are the quilled monograms I made for my nephews ,Ankur and Aditya. Ankur means the first sprout or the first bud and symbolises new beginnings whereas Aditya is a name of the rising sun or the sun god. These pictures now adorn the showcase in their home. Both monograms are made from 3mm wide strips on a white canvas base. Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome. Until next time, Avanti......

Hello, This is a set of 6 coasters I made after learning the art of warli painting from a friend. For those of you who do not know what warli painting is,it is a form of painting used by tribals living in western region of India. It usually depicts daily activities and festivals and is principally used to decorate the walls of their homes and temples.[for more information please google warli art] The base is a crimson red handmade paper and white poster colour was used for painting over it.The coasters were laminated later. Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome. Until next time, Avanti....

White and Gold

Image
Hello,  I love the appearance of flowers made using the quilling comb and wanted to try it myself. So I made a few flowers and petals and then used them to embelish a photo frame I had made earlier. The design looked good but did not have that nice finished look.So out came the glitter bottle to give a few finishing touches and this is the end result. All elements were made using 3 mm wide strips. Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome. Until next time, Avanti....

KIAN.....my first attempt at quilling

Image
Hello,     After going through quite a few blogs and buying a quilling kit from a local art shop, this was my first attempt at quilling.     Kian,my friend/senior/advisor/caretaker's son was celebrating his first birthday in three days and I had not found any gift worthy of the occassion. You see his Mom Mansi is a very artistic lady who does a lot of knitting, crocheting, embroidery, stitching and painting in her spare time.So I wanted the gift to be something that she would love and cherish. This is what I made for him.The entire process from designing to finishing took about four hours. Please excuse the poor quality frame that I tried to make[it was my first attempt at making a shadowbox too]      All elements were made from 3mm wide strips.     Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome.    Until next time,    Avanti....
